- שְׁקַדch. sam(שקד shaḳud?), to watch, be anxious, careful. Targ. Ps. 112:8. Targ. Prov. 8:34. Ithpe. אִשְׁתְּקֵיד to be anxious, wait for an opportunity. Snh.14a הוה קא מִשְׁתְּקֵידר׳וכ׳ (Ms. M. מִשְׁתְּקַד) R. J. was anxious to ordain them; Yalk. Sam. 96.
